A Few Flavors More at Hector’s on Delaware

logoNo, no, we’re not talking about the Sergio Leone spaghetti Western classic For a Few Dollars More, we’re talking about a few flavors more down at Hector’s on Delaware. I stopped in at Hector’s tonight and sampled the three delicious dishes they’re serving up at the Food Slam on October 2. First off is the Mexican classic chile relleno, a smoky roasted poblano pepper stuffed with cheddar and Chihuahua cheese, sautéed in egg batter and topped with a rich tomato sauce. The puerco en adobo, a sumptuous pork stew simmered in adobo sauce, is deep and rich in the flavors of dark beer and red wine, ancho and guajillo chilies, grilled onions and tomatoes, roasted garlic, and savory spices including cinnamon, cloves, cumin, oregano, and thyme. And Hector’s plate lunch–tender, falling-apart chunks of prime sirloin with potatoes, onions, green peppers, nopales (prickly pear), and pico de gallo–is a rich and hearty comfort food–a Mexican pot roast–rife with plush, velvety, savory zing. These are flavors to savor that’ll have your name on ’em on October 2!
